A Taste of Yoga: Chair Yoga

A sturdy chair, yoga mat or other non-slip surface and a blanket will be needed for this class. Class will begin seated in a chair, move to standing postures with the support of the chair, then return to seated for relaxation.

Instructor Bio: Laura DeMent took her first yoga class in February of 2002. While she loved yoga immediately, it was all physical: exercise that did not bother her knees. As she continued her practice, yoga became a way to heal and live with more balance. In 2005, Laura was asked to sub a yoga class and realized she would enjoy teaching. That fall she enrolled in teacher training. Laura continues to study yoga and graduated from her 300 hour training at Asheville Yoga Center in 2020. Laura enjoys incorporating breath work and yoga philosophy into her classes. You will find her teaching chair yoga, all levels hatha yoga, and intelligently sequenced vinyasa classes.

Laura teaches at Element Yoga in New Albany, Indiana and co-leads the 200 hour yoga teacher training. She is also a Health Coach and owner of Integrating Healthy Habits.
